Consistency
A month later and I'm making another post. I had the ambition to make a weekly post. That can still happen. Just have to make it a consistent habit. I did not foresee how crazy things would get this spring with work and other obligations. Life does that sometimes. But the show goes on and life and goals do not wait up.
WSOP starts this month and I am getting so excited! I'm only there for a weekend in June but it'll be packed with poker. I'm planning June 12-15.
Friday I'll fly in, get checked in at the hotel, and hit the store for essentials for the weekend. Then will get to Paris to get verified and registered for Colossus the next morning. I do not want to hit any lines so I'll be prepared.
Friday night I will probably go play a small tournament at Orleans or Southpoint to get the juices flowing and check out those rooms for the first time. Have some food vouchers at several restaurants to use too so a nice dinner is in the works too.
Saturday the Colossus gets started at 10am at Paris and Horseshoe. We're staying in Luxor Tower on some weekend comps the first two nights. I haven't stayed there yet but heard the Tower is much nicer than the the Pyramid rooms. And it has been recently refreshed. We'll get an early start and get a nice walk in up the strip from the south and grab some breakfast on the way in. We'll be ready for the start at 10 and the chaos that will ensue.
I haven't been there since 2024 so I will be unfamiliar with the app used for everything now. Shouldn't be a problem one would hope. I'll be more prepared this year with a bag packed with some snacks, bananas, sandwiches, charging block, etc. I remember my first time in 2022 how not prepared I was! No bag, scavenged for overpriced granola bars and bananas from the gift shops on breaks, and was not ready for how slow the service is with the overwhelming amount of people for the large field event! It was still a great experience and I got close to bagging day one of the Colossus that year before losing a huge flip 12 hours into the day.
The rest of Saturday and Sunday will be dependent on how far I can run. WSOP runs daily deepstacks that are fun events right on site. Aria has a series going that I may play Sunday as I'll be staying at Vdara that night. Or I could even head over to Freemont and play the games at Golden Nugget. They fit the budget. And I've heard about the uncapped 1/2 cash games that could be a riot.
